Mahabubnagar: Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud said Sri Venkateshwara Museum would be constructed at the popular Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple, Manyamkonda with a cost of Rs 1 crore. The museum will be housing the temple’s sculptures and other artefacts. In addition to these, sculptures from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) would also be displayed at the museum. The State Government has already issued orders sanctioning Rs 1 crore for taking up the project, he said.
In a statement issued here, the Minister said 18 rooms and an air-conditioned Kalyana mandapam (marriage hall) were being constructed atop the hill. As part of the Brahmotsavams, Sri Vari Vanam and Nitya Annadanam (free food distribution) was launched at Sri Alivelumanga temple, he said.
“A Haritha Hotel is being constructed in five acres near the Sri Alivelumanga temple on the Raichur highway. This will also aid in the development of temple tourism at Manyamkonda,” Srinivas Goud said.
The Minister further said Rs 1 crore for constructing the museum was deposited in the District Collector’s office. Intensify measures for finalising the location for the construction of museum, he directed the officials and added that Roads and Building department should take up the construction works.
Despite being historic and popular, Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple, Manyamkonda was neglected in the united Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was according top priority for restoration and development of temples across the State, he said.
