Adilabad: Prominent waterfalls situated in different parts of the erstwhile Adilabad have started drawing visitors and filmmakers belonging to several parts of Telangana. Thanks to incessant rains that the district registered in recent times and helped nature wonders in coming alive nearly after a gap of a year or so.
Famed Kuntala in Neradigonda mandal, Pochera of Boath mandal in Adilabad district, Mitte located in Lingapur, Gundala and Chintalamadara Waterfalls belonging to Tirynani mandal of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district are flowing in full glory for the past few days, following continuous showers that resulted in swelling of hilly streams and sources of the nature wonders. Until recently, they wore a deserted look due to the Covid-19-induced lockdown that badly hit the tourism sector of the district.
The picturesque yet pristine waterfalls are being swarmed by locals and tourists from across Telangana and neighbouring States as well. Hemanth Kumar, a private employee of Hyderabad, said he along with his friends and colleagues spent some time at the famous Kuntala and Pochera waterfalls a few days back. He opined that the tourist spot offered a thrilling and memorable experience.
Noted music director, folk singer, and SyTV YouTube Channel Thirupati Matla and his crew shot a video song at the scenic Chintalamadara waterfalls from Tuesday to Thursday. He said that he was surprised to find the scenic spot in the remote part of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. “The song is related to the monsoon. So, we chose the waterfalls after coming to know about them through Pradeep, one of his disciples. The location is suitable for picturing songs of feature films,” he told ‘Telangana Today.’
Tourists, however, are facing inconvenience in visiting the waterfalls owing to lack of basic facilities and security measures at the spots. Despite the huge potential to attract tourists from across the State, a majority of the natural wonders do not have road facilities, toilets, hotels, and accommodation amenities. Proposals to develop these spots continue to remain in cold storage for quite a long time.
District Tourism Officer Ravi Kumar V Ravi Kumar said that many waterfalls of composite Adilabad were drawing visitors belonging to different parts of Telangana for the past few days. Developmental works at Kuntala waterfalls would be commenced once the government gives its nod. Since they are located in the wild, the officials of the forest department are monitoring the waterfalls, he stated.
