Woman carrying her child jumps into Godavari, survives

A woman and her child survived after jumping into the Godavari river from a bridge at Bhadrachalam. Devotees raised an alarm, and locals and fishermen rescued them. The woman, who recently lost her husband, is undergoing treatment

Kothagudem: A woman, along with her child, jumped into river Godavari from a bridge at Bhadrachalam and the duo survived miraculously.

Devotees returning to their homes in the afternoon after attending Lord Rama ‘Pattabhishekam’ at Bhadradri Temple raised an alarm on noticing the woman jumping into the river in a suicide attempt. Locals and fishermen rushed to their rescue and saved them.

The woman, Swaroopa, hailing from Paloncha in the district, sustained injuries due to the fall from the bridge and was rushed to the Government Area Hospital for treatment. The woman and her child were said to be stable. The woman was said to have lost her husband recently.
