In response to the Speaker’s disqualification notices, nine out of ten BRS turncoat MLAs met with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to discuss legal responses and political strategy. This comes after the Supreme Court's directive to resolve the disqualification petitions within 90 days.
Hyderabad: In the wake of Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar serving notices to BRS turncoat MLAs, they held a meeting with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at his residence here on Sunday.
Except for Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari, all the other nine turncoat MLAs attended the meeting, which lasted for over an hour. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu were also present.
Of the 10 turncoat MLAs who received the Speaker’s notices, a few have replied to him while the others are yet to respond. It is learnt that during the meeting, the other turncoat MLAs were instructed to respond to the Speaker’s notice. This apart, the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues also discussed the current political scenario and the strategies to be adopted for countering the opposition parties’ narrative.
It may be recalled that Jogulamba Gadwal MLA B Krishnamohan Reddy had already replied to the Speaker’s notice. The MLA claimed that he was still associated with BRS and stressed that he had not defected to any other party.
In July, the Supreme Court had directed the Speaker to decide on the disqualification petitions against the 10 BRS turncoat MLAs within 90 days. Accordingly, the Speaker served notices to the MLAs and sought explanations from them.
