Hyderabad: Alleging that the Congress government released dues pertaining to “big contractors” and ignored sarpanches who were facing acute crisis for want of funds, BRS MLC K Kavitha demanded the government to immediately clear the pending bills of sarpanches.
Speaking to the media at the Legislative Council premises on Wednesday, Kavitha slammed the Congress government for not clearing the bills of poor sarpanches, MPTCs, ZPTCs and small contractors for the last one year. She alleged that the government cleared the bills of big contractors to a tune of Rs. 10,000 crore and ignored the bills of sarpanches, who were facing financial difficulties.
Coming down heavily on the State government for its failure to clear the pending bills, the BRS MLC said Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka had informed the council that the State had received a grant of Rs. 2,819 crore from the Finance Commission, which could be used for clearing the pending bills of the sarpanches. Stating that most of the bills pertaining to sarpanches were below Rs. 10 lakh, she urged the government to clear them at the earliest.
“If the government releases Rs. 100 crore, the pending bills of sarpanches can be easily cleared. I humbly request the government to clear the pending bills,”she said.
Earlier, speaking in the Council, Kavitha demanded the government to increase the salaries of Village Organisation Assistants (VOA) working under Indira Kranthi Patham (IKP), to Rs. 26,000 per month as promised by the Congress party during the assembly polls. She also urged the government not to transport women VOAs from one district to another for government programmes as they were facing a lot of domestic problems.
Kavitha also submitted a petition to the government demanding withdrawal of counterversial GO 29. She said due to the GO 29 several eligible candidates were losing opportunities to take Group-I mains. She said as per the GO the number of candidates to be admitted to the written (Main) examination (Conventional type) would be fifty times to the total number of vacancies available in each Multi-Zone duly following the rule of reservations for Community, Gender, EWS, PH, and sports as laid down in General Rules. She wanted the government to select candidates as per GO 55 issued by the BRS government.
