Hyderabad: Senior BRS Dalit leaders have accused the Congress government of neglecting the Centre for Dalit Studies (CDS) in Jubilee Hills, a project initiated and nearly completed during the tenure of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. They questioned the delay in its inauguration despite nearly 90 per cent of the construction being completed.
Former Ministers Koppula Eshwar and T Rajaiah, along with BRS general secretary RS Praveen Kumar, MLAs Manik Rao and Vijayudu, former MLAs Balka Suman and Rasamayi Balakishan, and several other leaders inspected the CDS building on Thursday. They said the Congress government had stalled the project despite most of the work being completed.

Koppula Eshwar said the CDS, envisioned by Chandrashekhar Rao to empower Dalit scholars, was built on a 1,500 sq yard site but remains unopened due to the present government’s apathy. “This centre was meant to serve as a beacon for Dalit education. The Congress government’s neglect has exposed its hollow claims of commitment to Dalit welfare,” he said.
Former MLA Balka Suman added that the Rs 24 crore project, built to uplift Dalit students, has been left unused for two years. “This is proof of how much the Congress cares for Dalits. The government must immediately inaugurate the building and allow Dalit students to use it,” he demanded.
The leaders said their visit followed directions from BRS chief Chandrashekhar Rao and working president KT Rama Rao, reiterating that the ruling party had betrayed Dalits through neglect and lack of sincerity.
