Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Thursday came down heavily on the ruling Congress party for adopting unethical and undemocratic practices to secure power in municipalities and municipal corporations in the State.

Former BRS MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy charged that the Congress government was making a mockery of the constitution. Despite the BRS securing a clear majority and the Congress winning lesser wards in a few ULBs, the ruling party was trying to establish the council by misusing power and with arrogance, he said at a press conference here on Thursday.
The Congress lacks a clear majority in Kyathanpalli. Despite this, Labour Minister G Vivek and his son blackmailed officials and got the election for the chairperson and vice chairperson postponed, he said.

“Revanth Reddy constitution is being implemented in the State. The Chief Minister and his cabinet Ministers are resorting to undemocratic practices and functioning shamelessly,” Venkataramana Reddy said.
Slamming the AICC meeting with Cabinet Ministers from Telangana in New Delhi, the former BRS MLA wondered what was being reviewed in the national capital.

“Is the AICC reviewing the figures sent by the Chief Minister or the Kerala election figures? People will dig a political burial for the Congress in the next elections,” Venkataramana Reddy said.
BRS senior leader Kyama Mallesh charged that Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy was trying to impress the Chief Minister and was flouting rules at will. In many municipalities, the Congress won the chairperson posts despite failing to secure the required majority. At Jangaon, the Congress leaders had kidnapped a councillor, who won in the municipality. He was released only after the BRS raised objections and exposed the unethical practices, he charged.

The Chief Minister claims he hails from a farmer’s family. If that was the case, he should be aware about the time Rythu Bandhu assistance should be released to farmers. Instead, the farming community was also being deceived, he said.
