Hyderabad: Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) National CEO Subhash Chandra appreciated State forest department’s initiatives to develop urban parks, avenue plantations on road sides and greenery all along Outer Ring Road (ORR). The CAMPA National CEO along with Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) of different States on Saturday visited Oxygen Park, Kandlakoya and inspected the greenery on ORR.
They were here as part of the national workshop on “Effective implementation and monitoring of Forestry activities with special emphasis on CAMPA” held here on Friday. Telangana forest department’s efforts to develop urban forest parks and extensive plantations by making effective use of CAMPA funds was commendable. In the present circumstances, creation of green lung spaces amidst concrete jungles was need of the hour, CAMPA National CEO Subhash Chandra said.
Uttar Pradesh PCCF Sanjay Srivastava said rapid urbanization was leading to scarcity of lung spaces. Telangana’s initiatives of developing urban forest parks were worth replicating in other States, he said. Manipur PCCF Aditya Joshi said impressed with Telangana’s urban forest parks, efforts would be made to develop similar parks in Manipur. Later, the team travelled for about 70 kms on ORR and inspected the newly set up drip irrigation system for watering the saplings and trees along the expressway. Briefing the team about the measures taken for increasing greenery, HMDA Urban Forestry Director B Prabhakar informed that in a week, drip irrigation system will be covering 160 kms on ORR.
