EAGLE Force arrests six in Odisha-Hyderabad drug network

Hyderabad: The EAGLE Force has arrested six persons in connection with a drug supply network operating between Odisha and Hyderabad, while apprehending 100 consumers, including seven students.
Sandeep Shandilya, Director, EAGLE Force, said that the investigation began after the arrest of Satya Avinash, 27, a Kukatpally hostel resident, for allegedly selling MDMA and LSD.
“During questioning, he tested positive for ganja and revealed that he procured the drug through WhatsApp, made payments through PhonePe and received Google Map locations indicating where the contraband had been hidden,” said the official.
Based on the information, an operation was launched during the intervening night of August 12 and 13 with support from the Task Force and Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW). The arrested suspects include Sanjya Mari, Kamesh Mari, Dambu Khora, Anasu Khara and Sethi Rakesh. Sanjya Mari was arrested at Upper Karabada Chandaka, Pottangi, in Koraput district. One of the six was a juvenile and was served notice and released.
Of the 100 consumers apprehended, 80 tested positive for drugs and 38 were sent for de-addiction on the orders of a magistrate. The remaining 42 are expected to be sent to de-addiction centres shortly. Officials said the other 125 identified consumers would also be dealt with and monitored for rehabilitation.
