An irrigation tank was breached due to heavy rains at Borigaon village in Sarangapur mandal on Friday
Nirmal: The flood situation in Nirmal district was brought under control on Friday, bringing respite to the public after the stressful Thursday. However, crops were damaged, connectivity and power supply continued to be affected by heavy rains.
The district’s average rainfall was assessed to be 122 mm from Thursday night to Friday morning.
An irrigation tank was breached at Borigaon village in Sarangapur mandal. Another tank in Andakur village in Kuntala mandal was also breached due to heavy inflows. Water from the breached tanks and heavy rains damaged paddy, cotton and maize crops. The authorities of the Agriculture Department are yet to carry out a survey for assessing the loss of the crops.
A road between Basara and Kirgul (B) was battered by downpours. A low-level bridge located between Sathgaon and Pendpalli in Lokeshwaram mandal was collapsed following heavy rains, hitting connectivity. Some dilapidated houses collapsed at Gundigaon village in Bhainsa mandal, which was affected by floods and in many other parts of the district.
Meanwhile, TRS youth wing leader Allola Goutham Reddy and his wife Divya Reddy distributed food and milk packets to families hit by floods at GNR Colony in Siddapur of Nirmal town. Voluntary organizations belonging to several parts of the erstwhile Adilabad district took part in flood-relief activities in the district headquarters.
