Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan on Friday demanded immediate cancellation of the Group-1 Main exam, withdrawal of GO 29 and also conduct of re-examination, after alleging widespread irregularities that jeopardised candidates’ futures. He urged the government to withdraw cases filed against protesting students and called for a judicial inquiry to identify officials responsible.
Sharply criticising the Revanth Reddy government over its plans to move the matter to a division bench, Sravan said the government’s appeal might result in turning students towards radicalisation and warned against using expensive lawyers to delay justice. He accused the State government of treating job recruitment as a market commodity and selling jobs in exchange for crores of rupees. He demanded a special Assembly session to debate the issue.
Sravan also pointed to the grave injustice to Telugu medium aspirants, where out of 8,694 candidates who wrote the Group-1 Main exam in Telugu, only 56 qualified, compared with 506 qualifiers from the English medium. He said the disparity was shocking and evidence of systemic bias. He wrote an open letter to the Chief Minister urging the government to approach the issue with humanity and conduct re-examination without viewing the High Court verdict as a matter of prestige.
He criticised the police excesses at recent student protests in Ashok Nagar, and condemned lathi-charges and arrests of students. He urged the government to heed the High Court’s directions, restore candidates’ faith, and ensure a transparent resolution. He also questioned the silence of the BJP leaders including Union Minister Bandi Sanjay and State president N Ramchander Rao on the issue.
BRSV State president Gellu Srinivas Yadav backed the call for urgent action, accusing the Ministers of maintaining silence on the High Court verdict. He said the BRSV cadre will unite students and student organisations across the State and confront the Ministers at every possible juncture through public platforms until the matter is addressed.
