Sangareddy: Former Minister T Harish Rao called upon BRS leaders of erstwhile Medak district to expose Congress government’s failures during the municipal election campaign.
During a review meeting with BRS leaders of 17 municipalities and 17 in-charges appointed to oversee the campaign in these civic bodies, held at his residence in Hyderabad on Monday evening, Harish Rao said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy-led government had completely ignored municipalities over the last two years. Recalling how the BRS government led by K Chandrashekhar Rao used to release funds every month under the Pattana Pragathi programme, he said the administration in towns had been paralysed after the Congress came to power.
While the BRS government had supplied drinking water to every household under Mission Bhagiratha, Rao said there had been disruptions in urban water supply over the past two years as the Revanth led government lacked commitment to people’s issues.
The former minister also recalled that the Congress had come to power promising Rs 4,000 pension and Rs 2,500 per month to every woman under the Mahalakshmi scheme but failed to honour those commitments.
Stating that the BRS had put up a strong fight in the recently held gram panchayat elections, Rao called upon party leaders and workers to step up their efforts to achieve greater success in the municipal elections. Urging the cadre to carry out door to door campaigns, he said they should explain how the Revanth government had cheated people by going back on the promises made during the election campaign. He also called upon them to make the best use of social media to expose the Congress government.
Saying that people felt cheated, the former minister said urban voters were waiting to teach the Congress a lesson in the elections. MLAs Chintha Prabhakar, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, K Manik Rao, V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, MLC Despathi Srinivas and others were present.
