Hyderabad: Hyderabad, along with the world, is celebrating International Yoga Day on Monday. Taking part in the seventh Yoga Day, people from different parts of the city have been sharing their photographs and videos on several social websites since morning.
Many institutions and organisations held the Yoga Day in the morning duly following COVID-19 protocols. Young and old alike participated in the events across the city.
Several NGOs, spiritual organisations, fitness experts and instructors organised special yoga classes for their students online. Several yogis were seen with their yoga mats, in many parks and public places practising various asanas on Monday morning.
Pratibha Agarwal, Founder Director of Anahata Yoga Zone, Hyderabad conducted an early morning yoga session for her 250 students from across the globe. “We had a great Yoga session in the morning. I have students living all across the globe, including UK, Singapore and USA. In fact, I have seen a huge rise in the number of people who want to practise Yoga in the last two years. Due to the pandemic more and more people are stuck in house and not able to do their regular exercise, and thus turning to Yoga,” she said.
Another Yoga practitioner from city, Shabana, who started her Monday with 108 Surya Namaskars says that Yoga has not only made her physically fit, but also mentally stronger.
“Yoga has an all-round approach. It makes your body fitter and mind calmer. I have been practising Yoga for the past two years and it has helped me a lot in strengthening my muscles”.
Several schools in the city also organised online yoga classes for students.
The Army Public School, Bolarum, hosted a similar session, where the students practiced various Aasanas, including Vrikshasan, Bhadrasanas, Vajrasan Ushtrasan, Shashankasan, Bhujangasana, Sethubandhasana. The session ended with ‘Dhyan’ to calm the mind, and a ‘Shanti Path’ for the wellbeing of humankind.
