Hyderabad: The ambience turned festive in and around Golconda Fort as scores of devotees thronged the Jagadamba temple to offer prayers on Sunday.
Like previous years, Shiva Shaktis, Joginis and Potharajus stole the show on Sunday. In their traditional style, they were seen dancing to devotional and folk songs to mark the festival.
Amidst fanfare, several women offered Bonam to the deity. At multiple places, women were seen preparing Bonam and some of them chanting hymns as they headed towards the temple in groups.

“I am happy that the State government has allowed celebrations this year. Every year we eagerly to celebrate Bonalu by visiting this temple,” said B Meena.
Elaborate arrangements were made which included security, traffic management and spraying of disinfectants.
It’s not only Golconda, many people visited the historic Ujjaini Mahankali temple in Secunderabad too. The footfall can be attributed to Lashkar Bonalu that will be held on July 25 and 26 at the temple.

Several devotees said they expect huge turnout on the occasion of Bonalu next Sunday and thus decided to visit the temple this week itself. Serpentine queues were witnessed near the temple and people started thronging the temple since 5 in the morning.
“I offered Bonam today as I am expecting a huge crowd coming Sunday. Spending more time in the temple might not be possible on the festival day,” said Laskshmi, a devotee at the temple.
“Last year, I was unable to offer Bonam due to the first wave of Covid-19 pandemic,” she added.
