INCOIS wins Subhas Chandra Bose Disaster Management Award 2025
INCOIS has received the Subhas Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar 2025 for its vital role in ocean-related disaster warnings. The organisation provides crucial early alerts and advisories, strengthening India’s disaster preparedness and response systems.

Hyderabad: Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), has been conferred the Subhas Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar (SCBAPP) 2025 in recognition of its outstanding contributions to disaster management and early warning services for ocean-related hazards.
The highest national honour in the field of disaster management, the award is a national honour announced annually on January 23, the birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose. The award recognises exemplary work and best practices that strengthen the country’s capacity to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
INCOIS provides a comprehensive suite of ocean information services for India and countries in the Indian Ocean region. These include early warnings and advisories on tsunamis, high waves, swell surges, storm surges, search and rescue support, oil spill advisories, and marine heatwaves.
The award investiture ceremony was held during Annual Relief Commissioners’ Conference at National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), New Delhi and presented by Union Minister of Communications, Jyotiraditya M Scindia, to Dr T M Balakrishnan Nair, Director, INCOIS.
