Kakatiya University proposes Rs 331.99 crore budget for FY 2026–27
Kakatiya University has proposed a Rs 331.99 crore budget for the financial year 2026–27, with major allocations towards salaries, pensions, examinations, and development initiatives. The university anticipates a deficit of Rs 2.16 crore.

Hanamkonda: Kakatiya University has proposed an estimated budget of Rs 331.99 crore for the financial year 2026–27.
At the 41st Academic Senate meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Pratap Reddy, the budget was presented by the Governing Body member Prof. B. Suresh Lal. It was estimated that Rs. 205.47 crores would be received from the State government in the form of Grant-in-Aid.
Rs. 126.52 crore would be generated from sources such as Rs. 8.33 crore in the form of academic and tuition fees, Rs. 41.41 crore through internal resources, Rs. 21.56 crore through other funds, and Rs. 49.64 crore from the examinations department.
He outlined the allocations as follows: Rs 169.96 crore for employee salaries and pensions; Rs 10.34 crore for administration and general programmes; Rs 54.88 crore for examinations; Rs 13.68 crore for academic programmes; Rs 97.44 crore for development initiatives; Rs 1.75 crore for loan repayments and miscellaneous expenses and Rs 8.40 crore for capital works, totalling Rs 355.90 crore. It would leave a deficit of Rs 2.16 crore.
The VC Prof Pratap Reddy noted that, in 2026, the university celebrates its Golden Jubilee year. New courses would be introduced with the primary objective of transforming students into employable professionals through strategic syllabus design and the integration of fields such as Artificial Intelligence.
In line with advancements in technology, the institution was focusing on soft skills alongside domain-specific knowledge while making credit transfer policies available to students. To foster and encourage research awards would be introduced.
To enhance academics and teaching standards, the position of “Professor of Practice” was being introduced. The process for filling posts such as Assistant Registrar and others, 130 part-time appointments started.
Efforts were underway to transform the University’s ‘K-Hub’ into a model similar to Hyderabad’s ‘T-Hub.’ Proposals regarding development and infrastructure creation coinciding with the university’s Golden Jubilee and the Arts College’s Centenary celebrations, were submitted to the government for funds.
Prof. Pratap Reddy informed that a Hostel Management System was being introduced to address existing deficiencies and prevent irregularities within the hostels. Chetana, an initiative dedicated to providing counselling services for university students was launched.
