Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao flayed the ruling Congress over its attempts to displace poor families in Hanuman Nagar by revoking land titles issued during the previous BRS regime. He ridiculed the government’s efforts to acquire land in Hanuman Nagar, which was located several kilometres away from the Musi Riverfront Development project.
Participating in the party’s Basti Bata programme in Hanuman Nagar under the Rajendranagar constituency on Sunday, Rama Rao interacted with residents who alleged that the government was trying to forcibly relocate families living in the area for nearly six decades and sell the land. Locals expressed concern that land ownership documents issued by the previous BRS government were being revoked.
Assuring his support to locals, the BRS working president said while the previous BRS government made efforts to provide houses for the poor, the present Congress government was focusing on demolishing them. He stated that despite being in power for over two-and-a-half years, the Congress had failed to fulfil its election promises or undertake significant construction activity in Hyderabad.
He also accused HYDRAA of adopting double standards by treating influential individuals and ordinary citizens differently in the removal of houses abutting water bodies and the Musi River.
Rama Rao said the BRS would take responsibility for providing land titles to all eligible families once it returned to power. He urged people to remain united and protect their homes, alleging that attempts were being made to intimidate local residents.
