Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha has demanded the immediate cancellation and re-conduct of the Group-1 exam, amid alleged irregularities and lack of transparency in the recruitment process. She stated that the government’s negligence in conducting the exam, has triggered widespread unrest among job aspirants.
In an open letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday, Kavitha lashed out at the Congress government for pushing thousands of unemployed youth into despair, due to its negligence. She charged the Congress government with playing with the lives of unemployed youth by failing to conduct the exam in a fair and transparent manner. “The Group-1 results have raised serious doubts among aspirants,” she wrote.
The BRS MLC raised several issues – ranging from issuance of different hall-tickets for prelims and mains, inconsistencies in attendance figures despite biometric verification, to the sudden rise in the number of candidates who appeared for the mains, from 21,075 to 21,085. She also questioned how 71 candidates from just two coaching centres, appearing in two centres, secured Group-1 posts.
Referring to the Telangana High Court’s interim order barring appointments until final judgment, Kavitha said the judiciary’s intervention was a direct reflection of the gravity of the concerns raised. She expressed alarm over discrepancies in Urdu-medium candidate data and alleged non-transparent evaluation practices. The shifting number of exam centre – from 45 to 46, and altered candidate numbers also cast further doubt on the commission’s integrity.
“Telangana was built on the promise of ‘Water, Funds, and Jobs’. I urge the government to uphold that spirit by cancelling the current Group-1 notification and initiating a fresh, foolproof process,” she concluded.
