Hyderabad: Vedic scholar and spiritual leader Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy said more youngsters were taking to spirituality than the elderly propelled by a quest for finding one’s truth. On the contrary, many elderly, even after their retirement, are in search of a job and are finding ways to earn more. The enthusiasm to learn about truth are drawing many youngsters towards spirituality, he said.
The unveiling ceremony of the Statue of Equality — Sri Ramanuja at Muchintal will be held from February 2 and speaking to ‘Telangana Today’ on the occasion, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy said ideologies of Sri Ramanuja were relevant even in the present era.

During the 11th Century, Sri Ramanuja thought about a futuristic and utopian society where women should be part of the mainstream society. Even the ignored, outcast and downtrodden should come to the mainstream of the society and opportunities must be kept open to all, he said. “This is not a small thing and nobody tolerated such ideology. Sri Ramanuja faced all tests and was even served food mixed with poison. It was not an easy task to survive all those hardships,” said Chinna Jeeyar Swamy.
He convinced the rulers, the elite of the society and common people towards following the right path. “Sri Ramanuja’s fight against discrimination in the past is an inspiration. His life and knowledge created an impact, which cannot be erased from history. Even his taught, deed and image will be casting similar impact at any given point of time,” said Chinna Jeeyar Swamy.
Statue of Equality
On the factors behind the Statue of Equality motivating youth towards spirituality, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy said technology and provision of the right stuff, which youth can understand and analyse themselves and follow, will be crucial.
“We are coming up with a digital library here. All the scriptures and their transliterated and translated versions will be made available to facilitate people understand the real core of the topics,” he said. Youth are more acquainted with technology and a 3D projection mapping is being set up with a few stories of Sri Ramanuja’s life and different incidents.
In addition to this, there are 108 temples and other places on the premises and people can learn about the significance of these temples and how they inspired Sri Ramanuja by listening to the stories using headsets. They will have the option of selecting their preferred language and the duration as well, he explained.
Regarding the unveiling ceremony, he said President Ramnath Kovind’s office has orally accepted the invitation and elaborate arrangements are being made for the smooth conduct of the ceremony. Over 5,000 Ritwiks from across the country would be participating during the 12-day ceremony, he added.
