Over 1900 govt schools in Telangana recorded zero admissions in 2024-25
The number of government and local body schools with zero enrollment have gone up by 235 in the academic year 2024-25.

Hyderabad: In a sharp contrast to the Congress government’s claims of giving top priority to the education sector, the number of zero admissions has only increased in the past academic year. In as many as 1,980 government and local body schools, it is just empty buildings, classrooms and benches, as these educational institutions registered zero admissions during the academic year 2024-25 across the State.
Interestingly, as per the latest data available with the Education department, the number of zero enrolled schools went up by 235 in just one academic year. While there were 1,745 government and local body schools with no students, this number has risen to 1,980 with 1,900 primary, 40 each upper primary and high schools.
These statistics marked a continuing upward trend over the past five years, during which the number of schools with no student has gone up by 894.
From 1,086 in 2021-22, the number of zero enrolled government and local body schools increased to 1,307 in 2022-23, then 1,745 in 2023-24 and now 1,980 in 2024-25.
After reviewing the data, we found that a total of 16,85,733 students had enrolled in 26,106 government and body schools during the academic year 2024-25. Of the total, 6,94,968 students were in 18,259 primary section, 1,91,176 in 3,143 upper primary section and 7,99,589 in 4,704 high schools across the State.
On the other hand, 11,757 private schools recorded a total enrollment of 37,26,220. Overall, 60,97,992 students enrolled in schools under different managements.
