Rajanna-Sircilla: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday said police stations had turned into centres for “settlements” under the Congress government, with the police acting entirely on the instructions of Congress leaders.
He said such practices were never encouraged during the BRS government’s ten-year tenure. Rama Rao was speaking to media persons after paying tributes to BRS party activist Kuntaiah, who died by suicide on Tuesday, in Sircilla.
Rama Rao said Kuntaiah had lodged a complaint with the police seeking justice, but instead of addressing his grievance, the police registered a counter-case against him. Calling it an unhealthy trend, the BRS leader said such behaviour from the authorities must be corrected.
He asserted that the BRS would continue its fight until justice is delivered to Kuntaiah’s family.

Kuntaiah had travelled to Hyderabad to extend moral support to Rama Rao ahead of the ACB questioning on Monday. However, on returning, he took the extreme step. Upon learning of the suicide attempt, Rama Rao had directed local leaders to ensure Kuntaiah received the best possible medical care. Unfortunately, he passed away while undergoing treatment.
Calling Kuntaiah a dedicated party worker, Rama Rao expressed deep grief and assured that the BRS would stand by his family. He promised to bear the full cost of his children’s education and future.
Earlier in the day, Rama Rao met Kuntaiah’s family members and reiterated the party’s full support.
