Probe sought into appointment of OSD to Satavahana varsity V-C

Karimnagar: The Lok Satta has urged Governor and Chancellor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan to order a probe into the appointment of an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Vice-Chancellor of Satavahana University.
In a memorandum sent to the Governor on Saturday, Lok Satta district secretary Prakash Holla said the organisation had received complaints from academicians on Vannala Ramesh’s appointment as the OSD. They pointed out that the then university Registrar Umesh Kumar had issued orders to authorities not to allocate any administrative duties to Vannala Ramesh for three years (2020 to 2022) as he had allegedly violated the financial discipline norms.
Ramesh, who worked as sports secretary from 2012 to 2018, had advances to the tune of Rs 7,79,400. He had submitted the bills of expenditure for Rs 6,71,561 against the advances of Rs 7,79,400 only after he was asked to do so. He had deposited the unspent amount of Rs 1,07,833 in the bank account of the university sports board.
