Hyderabad: To commemorate the 117th anniversary of the devastating 1908 Musi River Floods, Forum for a Better Hyderabad is organising a memorial and solidarity meet under the Great Tamarind Tree, in the premises of Osmania General Hospital, Afzalgunj, on September 25 at 10.30 am.
In September 1908, Hyderabad witnessed devastating Musi River Floods that claimed countless lives and caused widespread destruction. This tragedy became a turning point, spurring major urban planning reforms that transformed the city from a struggling slum into a modern urban landscape.
For 17 years, Forum for a Better Hyderabad, in collaboration with Centre for Deccan Studies and Civil Society Organisations, has been organising a memorial and solidarity meet under the Great Tamarind Tree, which saved over 150 lives during the floods at Osmania General Hospital premises in Afzalgunj.
