HYDERABAD: After facing fierce criticism from different sections over multiple issues, especially failure to implement the six guarantees and Kancha Gachibowli land controversy, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed concern over Congress leaders failing to work for the party’s cause and admitted that the party’s social media wing was lagging behind in countering the opposition’s charges effectively.
Alleging that AI pictures and videos were used to conduct a false campaign and mislead the people in the Kancha Gachibowli land row, he said that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had commented that bulldozers were deployed and trees were felled in those lands. Till recently, Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay were criticising the State government. Now, the Prime Minister was also attacking the State government, he stressed, calling for more effective use of social media by the Congress.
The Congress government had taken up several welfare and development programmes. There was no use of these unless those reached the people. If Congress has to retain power in the next elections, leaders should regularly visit villages and interact with people, he said. “There is no future for us unless the party and the government gain credibility and win the people’s confidence,” Revanth Reddy said to leaders at the Congress Legislative Party meeting held here on Tuesday.
Revanth Reddy also wanted all the MLAs and senior leaders to visit respective constituencies from April 16 to June 2 and campaign about the Congress government’s achievements. “I too will visit villages from May 1 to June 2,” he said to leaders.
CM warns aspirants over Cabinet expansion speculation
Taking serious objection over a few MLAs demanding berth in cabinet and commenting on the party affairs in the media, the Chief Minister warned the MLAs and leaders not to cross the line. He reportedly found fault with Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy for his comments over a few issues and wanted him to stay within the line.
Referring to demands from a few MLAs for cabinet berths, Revanth Reddy said: “Ultimately the party high command will take a call on who is to be given an opportunity. If anyone tries to go against the party line, they will be in trouble.”
Interestingly, Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, Mancherial MLA Prem Sagar Rao, Chennur MLA G Vivek Venkat Swamy and a few others, who had gone public with their demands for cabinet berths, did not attend the meeting.
