Revanth Reddy resorting to diversion politics ahead of civic polls, says Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Asserting that he would not be deterred by the Congress government’s intimidation tactics, former Minister T Harish Rao said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was resorting to diversion politics, fearing a backlash in the forthcoming municipal elections.

Speaking to the media at his residence in Kokapet before leaving for Telangana Bhavan along with BRS working president KT Rama Rao, the former Minister alleged that after irregularities were exposed in the Naini coal blocks, not a single Congress Minister had spoken a word about the scam.

“Yesterday, after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy brother-in-law’s involvement was exposed, notices were served on me in the evening to appear before the SIT probing the so-called phone tapping case,” Harish Rao said.

“The notices were handed over to my staff. As a law-abiding citizen, I rushed from Siddipet to Hyderabad to appear before the SIT,” he added.

The former Minister recalled that in the united State, BRS leaders were subjected to extensive harassment, with several cases booked against them.

“We have been guided and trained by BRS K Chandrashekhar Rao to be fearless and to fight. We will not get cowed down by Revanth Reddy’s intimidation tactics,” Harish Rao said.

He alleged that instead of focusing on the implementation of six guarantees and the welfare of the people, the Revanth Reddy government was indulging in vendetta politics. The BRS, he said, had exposed the HILTP, power and land scams, besides highlighting the losses Telangana was suffering in river water sharing. Fearing that people had sensed the Chief Minister’s role, he had now initiated diversion politics, Harish Rao charged.

“Before the panchayat elections, KT Rama Rao was issued notices and now, ahead of the municipal elections, I have been served notices. This is being done as Revanth Reddy is unable to counter the fight against corruption being put up by the BRS,” he said.

He also ridiculed the Congress government for distributing sarees just before the municipal elections and offering interest-free loans in towns.

After Revanth Reddy’s calculations and plans failed in the panchayat elections, the Chief Minister was trying to improve the Congress performance in the municipal polls by raking up the SIT and other probes, he alleged.

“In the past, when the phone tapping case was registered against me, the Supreme Court and High Court struck it down. Still, for the last two years, Revanth Reddy has been trying to exert pressure on me through intimidation,” Harish Rao said.

Irrespective of the diversion politics, Revanth Reddy would not be spared and the people would teach him a fitting lesson, he added.
