Hyderabad: The Students Federation of India (SFI) Telangana committee on Sunday demanded the State government not to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and wanted to come up with an alternative policy, which strengthens the public education system, after consultations with stakeholders.
Expressing concerns for NEP 2020 implementation, SFI Telangana committee said that at a time when the education system needs to be built on values of equality, democracy and social justice, the NEP 2020 is pointing towards a path that aligns education with corporate interests.
Provisions such as multiple entry-exit, four-year degree programmes, and an academic bank of credits being introduced under the NEP 2020 could make students’ academics unstable, the committee members said.
Apart from demanding an alternative policy, the SFI wanted the government to timely release scholarships and fee reimbursement, besides improving hostel and mess facilities for students.
