Hyderabad: Sikkim Animal Husbandry Minister Lok Nath Sharma was all praises for the schemes being implemented by the Telangana government for development of agriculture-allied sectors. He sought the support of the Telangana government to emulate these schemes in Sikkim.
Sharma who is on a one-day tour to Telangana to study the State government schemes for dairy farmers, called on his Telangana counterpart Talasani Srinivas Yadav at the latter’s office at Masab Tank here on Saturday. On the occasion, Srinivas Yadav explained about various welfare and development schemes being implemented in the State to promote traditional occupations and strengthen the rural economy.
Srinivas Yadav informed that the State government was implementing sheep distribution and fishlings distribution schemes to support the shepherds and fishermen. He stated that due to the visionary ideas of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, these schemes were showing visible results like Telangana having largest sheep population. He said the government was also promoting artificial insemination to increase its cattle population which in turn will boost the milk production.

He felt that these schemes will not only strengthen the rural economy, but also improve the State revenues considerably. He also lauded the artificial insemination programme which will improve livestock population. He also sought Telangana’s cooperation for emulating these schemes in Sikkim.
