Weavers in Sircilla constituency are now free from debt trap,
thanks to the State government’s welfare activities.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is scheduled to visit Rajanna-Sircilla district on Sunday. The Chief Minister is expected to participate in various programmes during his visit.
Sircilla, popularly known as textile town because of the many powerloom, textile processing and dyeing units, was dubbed as ‘Uricilla’, a place where weavers’ committed suicide in the past in undivided Andhra Pradesh due to financial problems.
Lack of proper work coupled with financial problems drove several weavers to end their lives. But a series of initiatives taken up by the TRS government after State formation saw Sircilla undergo a major transformation bringing smiles on the faces of the people.
The welfare and development activities in Sircilla Assembly constituency, a bustling textile town in Telangana, brought major relief to the people especially the weavers who are now free from the debt trap. With the blessings of the Chief Minister, Sircilla represented by the Industries and Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao, is progressing on all fronts.
The action plan chalked out by Rama Rao has helped the textile town to witness major development. Right from according priority to the welfare of weavers community, developing popular Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada at a cost of Rs.400 crore by setting up Vemulawada Development Authority, to convincing the Central government to lay a railway line covering Tungalapalli, Sircilla, Vemulawada and Boinapally among other welfare and development activities led to development of Sircilla.
The State government has accorded priority to weavers welfare and gave Rs.2,500 crore order for making sarees to be distributed during Bhathukamma, Christimas and Ramzan festivals. With this order, each weaver is getting over Rs.16,000 montly payment covering as many as 15,000 weavers.
This is addition to strengthening infrastrucrture for looms sector apart from constructing group work sheds and yarn depots. From complete silienc that witnessed before 2014, the lanes in Sircilla are now busy with weavers striving hard to deliver the sarees on time.
Construction of Apparel Park at a cost of Rs.174 crore in 60 acres at Pedduru village in Sircilla is progressing at a brisk pace. Once the park in opened, more than 8,000 women will get jobs in the garment sector.
A centre was also opened to impart training to the women and ensure job opportunities in the apparel industry. For the convenienc of textile park workers, an administrative building with a dining hall, toilets and four-lane road was already constructed at a cost of over Rs.14.50 crore.
With respect to agriculture sector, over Rs.812 crore were directly credited to the accounts of 1,17,755 farmers in Sircilla. The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme followed by other facilities helped in increasing cultivation area to one lakh acres.
Extending Rythu Bima to farmers, construction of irrigation projects, allotting 2BHK houses to beneficiaries, taking up various works under Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhageeratha, distribution of KCR kits and Palle Pragathi programme, among other activities were taken up for the welfare of people in Sircilla.
