Polling started at 7 a.m. at 306 polling centres across the constituency in Karimnagar district. Election officials said the process will continue till 7 p.m.

The counting for the 43 wards of the Municipality commenced at 8 am at Indur Engineering College following the Covid-19 guidelines on Monday.

The ward has a total electorate of 47,379 and 13,591 of them had cast their votes.

Ministers Gangula Kamalakar, Satyavathi Rathod and Koppula Eshwar congratulated Bhagat on his winning the bypoll against Congress rival and former Minister K Jana Reddy.

Out the 47, 379 people enrolled as electors in the Lingojiguda ward, by 11am, 6,164 people exercised their franchise.

The ruling party had won all 7 Assembly segments in 2019 polls in the constituency
