According to the officials, during the enquiry, the CBI got enough prima facie material to start a formal probe.

It added that disciplinary proceedings should be conducted simultaneously with the criminal proceedings and it should not wait for the outcome of the criminal proceedings.

Deshmukh resigned as Maharashtra's home minister on Monday after the HC directed Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe.
