Commuters across Hyderabad reacted sharply to a steep hike in TGSRTC city bus fares, which came into effect Monday. With fares rising by Rs 5 to Rs 10, passengers say the hike burdens daily travel costs without improving services

While 4,484 special buses were planned for last Sankranti, the corporation operated about 5246 buses in view of the passenger rush. In view of this, 6,432 special buses have been arranged this time which will be available to passengers from January 9 to 15.

These special buses will be available for passengers from October 1 to 15 and advance reservation facility has been provided in them.

These electric non-AC Metro Express buses will run on the Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) - Swarnagiri route and travel through Tarnaka, Uppal ‘x’ Road, Medipally, Ghatkesar, AIIMS, Bibinagar, Renuka Yellamma and Swarnagiri.

Likewise, the first bus will leave from Srisailam to MGBS at 4.30am. The fares from MGBS to Srisailam will be Rs 600 for Super Luxury, Rs 540 for Deluxe and Rs 460 for Express.

These special RTC buses for cricket fans will be operated between 6 pm and 11:30 pm on March 27 and April 5.

Police, who traced the girl near Jubilee bus station on Thursday night, brought her to Karimnagar on Friday morning.

On Monday, TSRTC's Managing Director, VC Sajjanar, made an unannounced visit to Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) to personally assess the newly introduced 'Maha Lakshmi' initiative offering free bus travel for women.
