The Government Railway Police (GRP) has successfully traced and recovered 200 mobile phones worth Rs 30 lakh using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. Special teams across the Railway Police District tracked devices lost or stolen from passengers, often during journeys when phones were misplaced or snatched.
Under ‘Operation Amanat’, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of South Central Railway (SCR) successfully recovered 21 lost mobile phones in July. Nine phones have already been returned to their owners. A total of 169 complaints were received across the SCR zone, leading to the blocking of 139 phones, with traceability detected in 52 cases.
The Cyberabad Police recovered 827 stolen or lost mobile phones worth nearly Rs 2 crore using the CEIR portal. The devices were returned to their owners during a special event. Citizens were urged to report lost phones through CEIR for faster recovery.
The RPF Cyber Cell of South Central Railway recovered 25 mobile phones in June 2025, acting on 140 complaints received via Rail Madad. By leveraging CEIR technology, they blocked 123 devices and traced 41, with 14 already returned to owners.
Kothagudem: As many as 483 lost mobile phones have been recovered through the CEIR portal since January and handed over to the owners, informed Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju. 1674 complaints have been received through the portal in all the police stations across the district. In Telangana, the police personnel in 750 police stations are being trained to use the CEIR in coordination with the DoT and the Telangana Crime Investigation Department
