The CJI along with his wife reached Tirumala earlier on Thursday. He was welcomed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman YV Subba Reddy and others.

The development acquires significance in the wake of the TTD's announcement in April this year that Lord Hanuman's birthplace is located on Anjanadri, one of the seven Tirumala hills.

However, devotees who would like to reach Tirumala on foot could still go on foot from Srivari Mettu to Tirumala, TTD said here on Wednesday

The closure is to facilitate reconstruction of the cover of the entire path.

The announcement, on 'Ram Navami' day, was made by a TTD constituted committee of scholars from different fields led by Prof Muralidhara Sharma, VC of National Sanskrit University, in the presence of TN Governor
