‘Taking steps for development of Pagididdaraju, Musalamma temples’

Minister Satyavathi Rathod laying foundation for amenities at Musalamma temple in Kothaguda mandal in Mahabubabad district on Monday
Mahabubabad: The State government is taking steps for the development of both the Padigiddaraju temple at Punugondla village of Gangaram mandal and Musalamma temple at Gunjedu village of Kothaguda mandal in the district, Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod said on Monday.
The Minister, accompanied by Mulugu MLA Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), Zilla Parishad chairperson Angoth Bindhu , District Collector K Shashanka and the officials concerned visited both the tribal shrines located in the forest area to inspect the arrangements made for Medaram Sammakka Sarakka jatara.
“As a part of the biennial Medaram Sammakka-Sarakka jatara, the idol of Pagididdaraju, who was the husband of Sammakka, will be taken from Punugondla village of Mahabubabad district to Medaram in Sammakka Sarakka (SS) Tadvai mandal in Mulugu district through the forest route during the mega jatara. “In view of this, the State government has decided to develop the amenities and take up repairs at the Pagiddaraju temple at a cost of Rs 32 lakhs this year ahead of the maha jatara,” she said, adding that Rs 24 lakhs had also been sanctioned for the Musalamma temple as the number of pilgrims was increasing year by year.
“Since State formation in 2014, the TRS government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has allocated a toat of Rs 350 crore (2016, 2018 and 2020) for the conduct of Medaram jatara,” she said, and reminded that they were creating permanent facilities at Medaram tribal shrine with Rs 75 crore sanctioned last year.
“On the other hand, the government has also sanctioned Rs 1.20 croe for the min-jatara (pilla jatara) being held along with the Medaram jatara in the erstwhile Warangal district,” she said. Earlier, Satyavathi has laid foundation for some development works at Gunjedu Musalamma temple. Sheds for devotees, toilets, drinking water facilities and roads will be constructed at the temple.
