Hyderabad: Thousands of engineering aspirants failed to get seats even though several were still vacant after the Telangana Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (TG EAPCET) 2025 first-phase seat allotment released on Friday.
As many as 16,793 candidates did not get seat allotment despite giving web options. However, 5,493 seats, with 2,058 in electronics and electrical branches and 1,700 in CSE and allied branches, remained vacant.
Even in the mock allotment, which was done for the first time allowing students to see their probable seat and college allotment, 16,905 candidates could not get a seat. Though they were given time to exercise web options again before provisional allotment, thousands still failed to get a seat.
Officials pointed out that choosing only a limited number of options would not guarantee a seat, considering a student’s rank and category.
Overall, 77,561 were allotted out of 83,054 seats under convener quota in 172 engineering colleges. A total of 95,256 candidates took part in the certificate verification and 94,354 exercised web options for seat allotment.
As for course-wise allotments, CSE, and allied branches continued to be top choice for engineering aspirants. As per information released by the Technical Education Department, 97.11 per cent out of 58,742 seats in CSE and allied branches were allocated in the first round itself.
Similarly, 87.23 per cent of 16,112 seats in electrical and electronics engineering branches were allotted. Civil, mechanical and allied engineering branches saw 79.32 per cent seat allotment out of 7,100 seats.
Those who received seat allotment must self-report online via the website https://tgeapcet.nic.in/ and pay the tuition fee on or before July 22. Candidates have to report at the allotted college after second phase counselling between July 31 and August 2.
