Tiger moving on borders of Telangana, Maharashtra; Forest officials put on alert
Briefing details of the operation, Neeraj Kumar disclosed that the tiger was roaming in the forests located on the borders of both Telangana and Maharashtra. He asked the officials to be alert. He stated that 20 teams were scanning the forests to locate the tiger, while 21 CCTV cameras and a live camera were installed to capture its images.
Kumram Bheem Asifabad: District Forest Officer Neeraj Kumar Tebriwal said Forest officials were on high alert as the tiger which killed a woman and attacked a farmer recently was moving on the borders of Telangana and the neighbouring Maharashtra. He monitored an operation meant for tracking the movement of the tiger at Itikalapahad village in Sirpur (T) mandal on Monday.
Briefing details of the operation, Neeraj Kumar disclosed that the tiger was roaming in the forests located on the borders of both Telangana and Maharashtra. He asked the officials to be alert. He stated that 20 teams were scanning the forests to locate the tiger, while 21 CCTV cameras and a live camera were installed to capture its images.
Stating that images of the tiger were not recorded in a CCTV camera so far, he urged the public to be cautious of the tiger. He requested not to take up farm activities till 10 an and to leave agriculture fields by 4 pm. He told the farmers to move in groups containing at least 20 members to prevent attacks by tigers in agriculture fields. He advised villagers not to use stretches passing through forests.
The DFO further said that a tiger killed a cow in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra on Monday. Scat (fecal droppings) samples of the tiger which mauled Morle Lakshmi to death at Easgaon in Kagaznagar and that of the tiger moving in Tadoba were sent to CCMB in Hyderabad for identification. He added they were sharing information with their counterparts in Maharashtra.
