Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Friday condemned the comments of BJP State president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar terming Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao as anti-national.
The TRS also objected to the way the BJP MPs were bad-mouthing the TRS leadership throwing all the basic courtesies to the wind.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters here, Rytu Bandhu Samithi Chief Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Chief Whip Bodakunti Venkateswarlu, MLCs Baswaraju Sarayya and M Srinivas Reddy said that calling for scrapping of challans issued for traffic violations was nothing but violation of law.
“You are the anti-national who is calling for violation of a law that is enacted by the Union government. Being an MP, are you suggesting that people can drink and drive?” Rajeshwar Reddy asked. He reminded the BJP leader that it was the Centre that hiked the fine amount for traffic violations and several other States had been charging higher fines than Telangana State.
Stating that it was a fact that the BJP had written to the Election Commission urging it to stop the financial assistance distributed to flood affected families in Hyderabad, he said: “People of the city will teach BJP a befitting lesson for snatching away the much-needed assistance when they need it most. The same BJP which was instrumental in the abrupt stoppage of distribution of Rs 10,000 is crying wolf and blaming TRS for not distributing flood relief now,” he added.
Reacting to the challenge thrown by Bandi Sanjay Kumar, asking the Chief Minister to be present at the Bhagyalakshmi temple near Charminar, he said that the selection of the premises itself showed the divisive nature of the BJP. “Why particularly Charminar? There are so many temples in the city where the challenge could have been met,” he said. He recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had lauded Chandrashekhar Rao for his progressive attitude on several occasions.
The TRS leaders said that TRS had ensured social justice by allocating 75 per cent of the GHMC seats to backward classes, 13 per cent to Scheduled Castes and 3 per cent seats to Scheduled Tribes. “All sections of society have welcomed the way in which the TRS has allocated seats. TRS provided representation to all the weaker sections in GHMC elections like never before,” Chief Whip B Venkateswarlu said, adding that TRS will win the elections with the support of all sections of society.
