Warangal: The Regional Science Centre (RSC) in Warangal will be housing the Innovation Hub in about three years. The National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Culture which is developing a chain of Science Cities/ Science Centres/ Innovation Hubs throughout the country will be setting up the Innovation Hub at an estimated cost of Rs 1.60 crore. This will be done in association with the Telangana State Council of Science & Technology (TSCOST).
To this effect, the council and the NCSM entered into an MoU a couple of days in Kolkata.
“The Innovation Hub will promote innovation and creativity besides providing an engaging learning ecosystem for students to nurture innovative ideas and allow them to flourish.
The innovation hub will include an innovation resource centre, an idea lab, and a design studio, among others,” said a TSCOST official. He said the Innovation Hubs would help to engage youth in innovative and creative activities.
These would serve as springboards for new ideas and innovation and thus helping the society and economy to face future challenges and meet rising aspirations of the growing population. They will have potential to retain talent in modern science.
Located on a beautiful Puligutta hillock on the Hunter Road opposite to Kakatiya Zoo in Hanamkonda, the RSC has been attracting students, teachers and science admirers ever since its inception in 2015. It was developed with about Rs 6 crore.
“The magic tap, optical illusion explained by falling water without any pipe, the Leon Foucault pendulum which proves that the earth revolution, head on a platter which again explains the concept of optical illusion and other such exhibits provide a lot of entertainment and education to students thronging this centre.
Students of the school must visit this centre as they can learn a lot of things in science,” said Dr Dasaroju Prabhakara Chary of Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV), Hanamkonda.
“Among the other major attractions there include the musical corridor, infinite train, sympathetic swing, parabolic reflectors and pinhole camera are awe inspiring to students inculcating a sense of curiosity and inquisitiveness among kids. It was the only of its kind Science Centre in the Telangana State,” he added.
