Hyderabad: The BRS charged the Revanth Reddy government with betraying minorities and implementing the BJP’s agenda in Telangana. The party leaders said though the Congress has been opposing the amendments to the Waqf Act by the BJP-led Central government across the country, Revanth Reddy is implementing it in the State.
They announced statewide protests at mosques on October 3, where the Congress Debt Cards will be distributed, questioning the unfulfilled promises.
At a press meet in Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan said the Congress came to power on false promises, particularly its Minority Declaration, which remains unfulfilled.
“Revanth Reddy talks secularism in the morning and ignores it by night. He bulldozed dargahs and burial grounds in Kodangal for road widening akin to Yogi Adityanath’s bulldozer rule in Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
He stated that Muslim leaders within the Congress, including Mohammed Azharuddin, Mohammed Shabbir Ali, and Aamir Ali Khan, were being sidelined, with no Muslim representation in the Cabinet or nominated posts. He pointed out that ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election, the government is attempting to woo Muslim voters with sewing machine schemes instead of delivering on promises.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali also criticised the Congress government over its double standards on the Waqf Amendment Act, opposing it nationally while making Telangana the first State to implement it.
He pointed out that Telangana, under former Chief Minister K
Chandrashekhar Rao, had seen respect for all religions and minority representation at the highest levels of government. “Revanth Reddy is following Narendra Modi’s constitution, but not Rahul Gandhi,” he cautioned, asserting that minorities would teach the Congress a lesson soon.
