Hyderabad: Elaborate arrangements were being made in strict adherence to the Covid-19 safety guidelines for the first year Intermediate public examinations which were scheduled to be conducted from October 25 to November 3, Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy said.
During a video conference with District Collectors here on Thursday, the Minister said 1,768 exam centres were set up and 4,59,228 students were expected to appear for the examinations. To ensure smooth conduct of exams, district-level monitoring committees and higher power committees were constituted, she said.
The Minister instructed the Collectors to conduct district-level coordination meetings including with officers from revenue, RTC, health, electricity and education departments. Only those who have been vaccinated would be deployed as invigilators, departmental officers, chief superintendents, clerks and attenders at the exam centres, she said.
For the convenience of students, they would be allowed to enter centres one hour before the scheduled time of the examination, she said.
Necessary instructions have also been issued to RTC to operate special buses for convenience of students in reaching centres in time. Students would be permitted to carry a sanitizer and water bottle into the centre.
Surveillance cameras have been installed at all exam centres to avoid malpractice and to ensure transparent conduct of examination, she said, adding that even in schools where centres were being set up for the first time, surveillance cameras have been put in place.
“Students will be permitted into the centres only after thermal screening. Face masks are mandatory for students and officials in the centres,” she said.
The intermediate first-year question papers were prepared covering the 70 per cent syllabus and the syllabus has already been made available on the Board of Intermediate Education website, she said, adding that choices in the question paper have also been increased and model question paper for each subject has already been uploaded on the BIE’s website.
