All the Dalits who attended the launch programme were lavish in their praise for CM KCR, stating that the move would help in comprehensive development of the community which remained backward even 75 years after independence.
Shalapalli: Mankali Mallesham, a tractor driver and resident of Chelpur in Huzurabad mandal, is looking forward to purchasing a tractor that would change his life.
“There is huge demand for tractors in villages particularly during the time of cultivation. I plan to buy a tractor when I get the Rs 10 lakh under the Dalit Bandhu scheme launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Monday,” Mallesham, who participated enthusiastically in the public meeting, told Telangana Today.
Farmers were dependent on tractors to cultivate crops since bullocks have virtually vanished from rural areas, Mallesham said. “Though the demand for tractor is high, only a few tractors are available, and there is a gap between demand and supply. Under these conditions, farmers are seeking these services from neighbouring villages during cultivation season,” he said.
Ambala Chakrapani, also among the gathering, said the scheme will definitely be a major source of support for his family. “I have been into some small business mainly on account of lack of money for capital to start my own business. I have decided to establish a mini dairy when I get the money since I have experience in rearing buffaloes,” Chakrapani, a native of Koppur, Bheemadevaripalli mandal of Warangal Urban district, said, adding that Mulkanoor Dairy was one of the reasons for his chosing this business. “There would be no marketing problem since I can supply the milk to Mulkanoor Dairy,” he said.

Kommulla Babu, another Dalit, said he would establish a kirana store in his village with the Rs 10 lakh he would get under the scheme. An autorickshaw driver by profession, Babu also decided to start a mini dairy beside his grocery shop.
He pointed out that there were some kirana stores in the village, but there were none in his locality. “There is a lot of demand for milk and milk based products in the market. So, the question of losses doesn’t arise,” he said, adding that he would focus on production of milk based products if the dairy scheme comes through.
