Hyderabad: A nostalgic food or sweet recipe we have relished throughout our childhood is revdi in Hindi, jeedilu in Telugu which is made with minimal but wholesome ingredients like sesame seeds, and jaggery.
Good for all the age groups to boost up our immunity and a bite-sized treat or candy, perfect little bites especially for people with sweet teeth. These candies when consumed in winters help to keep our body warm and build up energy.
These candies are a must for Lohri/ Sankranti. They can be made with sugar as well, but when prepared with jaggery, it makes it a wholesome and excellent source of protein and fibre- rich food.
There are variant recipes to make these candies like adding Kewra essence or cardamom or rose essence and a pinch of salt to enhance the flavour of it and can be made simple without adding any essence depending on our choice.
A perfect homemade recipe as a treat for sweet lovers and health freaks as well. Sesame seeds also strengthen bones, boost hair quality, control blood sugar and keep skin healthy, as they are loaded with protein, calcium, iron, and magnesium. Jaggery is the perfect sugar replacement.
