Jayashankar Bhupalpally: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday dismissed reports of talks of a BRS-BJP merger, calling them baseless. Declaring that the BRS would stand as long as Telangana existed, he said there was no question of being a proxy to any other party or of entering into any alliances, especially with the BJP.
He was reacting to allegations made by BJP MP CM Ramesh from Andhra Pradesh, claiming that Rama Rao met him offering to merge the BRS in the BJP, if the latter ensured bail for K Kavitha in the Delhi excise policy case.
Speaking at a party meeting in Mogullapally of Jayashankar Bhupalpally on Sunday, Rama Rao said the BRS, which was formed for Telangana, would continue to strive to safeguard the interests of the State and its people. He urged voters to ensure a BRS victory in the upcoming local body elections, asserting that the return of K Chandrashekhar Rao to power would end the people’s troubles, restore effective governance and protect the State’s self-respect.
Farmers made to stand in line for urea
The former Minister said the Congress government was mismanaging agriculture and abandoning welfare schemes. Farmers were queuing for urea under new restrictions, with only one bag allowed per Aadhaar card. Non-bailable cases were being registered against farmers for buying extra bags in their family members’ names, he said, contrasting this with the previous BRS tenure, when welfare schemes like Rythu Bandhu were continued even during the COVID-19 crisis.
Congress work for vote gain
Crediting Chandrashekhar Rao for spending Rs 70,000 crore on the scheme to support farmers, he said the Congress was using it merely to gain votes. He also slammed the ruling party for cheating BCs without implementing promises made in its Kamareddy BC Declaration.
Attempts to privatise SCCL
Later addressing the party cadre at Bhupalpally constituency headquarters, Rama Rao said both the Congress and the BJP were attempting to privatise the Singareni Collieries Company Limited. He reiterated that only Chandrashekhar Rao could fight to safeguard the State’s interest.
Food poisoning incidents galore
The BRS working president stated that hospitalisation of 117 students due to food poisoning at BC welfare hostel, was the latest example of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s inefficiency. Since the Congress came to power, over 3,000 students were hospitalised due to food poisoning in residential welfare hostels and around 100 students died due to various reasons.
“But Revanth Reddy did not even react till date. Instead, he is shamelessly promoting the “Telangana Rising” slogan,” he remarked, asking whether Revanth Reddy would feed such food to children in his family.
Admitting that shortfalls and mistakes led to the party’s defeat in the last Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, Rama Rao urged the party cadre to address minor issues and work unitedly for the party’s victory in the upcoming local body elections.
“Winning the local body elections will be our priority and the State leadership will allot the party tickets to them. However, the entire cadre should work together to ensure their victory,” he added.
