Rajanna-Sircilla: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday said Congress leaders were unable to tour rural areas due to the shortage of urea, which has severely hit farmers.
Speaking at a party workers’ meeting in Sircilla, Rama Rao said while the BRS government had implemented all welfare schemes without interruption even during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Congress government had failed to fulfil even a single poll promise.
“Except for using abusive language in his speeches, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is not speaking about his election promises. He had promised 42 per cent of contract works to BCs and the implementation of a BC sub-plan, but nothing has materialised,” he said.
Rama Rao said that the government was attempting to deflect attention by blaming the previous BRS regime. He pointed out that the Union government, in Parliament, had stated that the K Chandrashekhar Rao-led government borrowed only Rs.2 lakh crore, whereas the Congress government was spreading false propaganda claiming the figure was Rs.8 lakh crore.
He alleged that the Congress regime had turned Sircilla’s Manair river, once overflowing even in peak summer, into a “desert”. He also accused the government of becoming notorious for slapping cases against people and sending them to jail.
Referring to the suicide of one Sai Reddy, Rama Rao said the government created such a situation in the Chief Minister’s constituency itself by constructing a wall in front of his house.
He asserted that people continued to recall the governance of Chandrashekhar Rao and were eagerly waiting for the next elections to bring BRS back to power.
Calling upon party workers to intensify struggles on public issues, Rama Rao urged them to highlight problems of sanitation and streetlights in villages. He also asked the cadre to exert pressure on the government to clear the pending power bills of Sircilla weavers through subsidies.
He said party in-charges would be appointed for all mandals and directed workers to record public discontent against the Congress government and post it on social media.
