Mahaa News case: Show Cause notice issued to Task Force over illegal detention of BRSV activists
The local court observed that the detention of the accused in Task Force custody for more than 24 hours was in violation of the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Hyderabad: The 17th Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court has issued show cause notices to the West Zone Task Force and the investigation officer of Jubilee Hills police station for unlawful detention of two of the accused in the Mahaa News protest case. They have been instructed to give an explanation in this regard.
According to the BRS legal cell, the court sent the accused R Narsing and K Jangaiah, both BRSV leaders, to judicial remand for two weeks during the case hearing on July 1. During the proceedings, the court found that the Task Force police had held Narsing and Jangaiah in custody for more than 24 hours i.e. from 11 am on June 29 to 2:30 pm on June 30, before they were handed over to the Jubilee Hills police.
The court observed that the detention of the accused in Task Force custody for more than 24 hours was in violation of the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Accordingly, the officials responsible were served show cause notices, seeking an explanation for the unlawful detention.
