Hyderabad: Pressing issues of other backward classes (OBC) came up for discussion at a meeting of prominent leaders here on Sunday. They warned that if the government continued to evade issues that called for immediate attention with excuses, OBCs would be prepared for a nationwide movement.
Among the attendees were Prof Suraj Mandal, grandson of BP Mandal, national OBC leader and Tamil Nadu Rajya Sabha member V Wilson, and All India OBC Students Association national president Kiran.
BRS leader and former Minister V Srinivas Goud, who had discussions with them, emphasised the need to pressure the Central government to conduct caste census along with the national census.
He argued that reservations for OBCs should be allocated based on population. The discussions also highlighted the demand for reservations in education, employment, and local bodies. The leaders called for the implementation of reservations in the private sector and the establishment of an OBC Ministry.
They stressed the importance of strengthening the OBC movement across all States if their demands were not met.
