Flooding from the Musi River brought operations at Hyderabad’s MGBS bus station to a standstill, leaving passengers stranded. TGSRTC announced the suspension of services and rerouted buses to alternative stations including JBS, Uppal, LB Nagar, and Aramghar.

Metro works for the MGBS–Chandrayangutta corridor in Hyderabad’s Old City have advanced, with the number of affected properties reduced from 1,100 to 900. HAML is conducting night work, and geotechnical testing is set to begin for pillar and station foundations.

While 4,484 special buses were planned for last Sankranti, the corporation operated about 5246 buses in view of the passenger rush. In view of this, 6,432 special buses have been arranged this time which will be available to passengers from January 9 to 15.

During the road expansion and metro construction, all religious and historical structures are being protected with engineering solutions.

These special buses will be available for passengers from October 1 to 15 and advance reservation facility has been provided in them.

RTC officials said special deluxe buses are being operated from MGBS to Nagarjuna Sagar.

Likewise, the first bus will leave from Srisailam to MGBS at 4.30am. The fares from MGBS to Srisailam will be Rs 600 for Super Luxury, Rs 540 for Deluxe and Rs 460 for Express.

The RTC officials maintained that sufficient number of wheel chairs, buggy vehicles and baby trolleys are available for passengers coming with families.

Lack of proper maintenance, basic amenities add to passenger woes

The metro rail project is expected to cost about Rs. 2,000 Cr including for road widening and shifting of the utilities.

The last date of duly filled applications is at 5pm on February 6.
