The cancellation of tenders for the Naini coal block in Odisha has thrown Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) into turmoil. Conceived as a crucial project to secure coal for Telangana’s power sector, Naini faced years of delays due to forest clearances before limited mining began in 2025.
The KTPP Plant, which is a 1,100 MW coal fired power project, has two units, the first unit has a capacity of 500 MW and the second unit has a capacity of 600 MW.
The company had taken up the construction of 300 megawatt solar plants in the first phase, out of which 224 megawatts including 5 megawatt floating solar plants have been completed, said N Sridhar
