The arrested individual, Babhuti Bhushan Palai, also known as Raju, is a native of Odisha who moved to the city a few years ago. Initially, he worked as a food delivery boy before leaving the job to join a construction company as a JCB driver.
The victim, aged around 16 years, left her house on Monday after her parents scolded the teenager for constantly using the mobile phone. Soon after she went missing, the parents lodged a complaint with the police.
The suspect identified as Chiranjeevi of L B Nagar was detained by the police in connection with a case of theft that was registered at Tukaramgate police station.
