Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Gandhi Bhavan after Seva Lal Sena leaders were denied permission to meet Congress elected public representatives and submit their representation over land acquisition for establishing pharma villages, especially at Lagacherla in Kodangal constituency. They are also demanding the State government to withdraw the cases booked against the tribal farmers in Lagacherla.
Raising slogans, a group of Seva Lal Sena leaders tried to enter Gandhi Bhavan on Monday afternoon. However, police denied them permission from heading towards the Congress office. The Seva Lal Sena leaders explained to the police that they wanted to meet and submit a representation to the Congress elected public representatives.
Arguments took place between the leaders and the police at the Gandhi Bhavan entrance. With the leaders insisting on entry and police denying permission, traffic flow was affected on the Nampally road.
The Seva Lal Sena has been strongly opposing the acquisition of tribal farmers’ lands for establishing pharma villages. The leaders demanded the State government to scrap the land acquisition in Dudyala, Lagacharla, Hakimpet, Polepally, Pulicherlakunta thanda, Rotibanda thanda, Mysammaguda thanda, Hirlapally thanda and Kothacheruvu thanda.
After much persuasion, the police permitted entry to Seva Lal Sena leaders. It is learnt that the leaders submitted their representation to MP Balram Naik and MLA Balu Naik and insisted that they prevail upon the Congress government and get the plans to set up the pharma village scrapped.
Meanwhile, TPCC Spokesperson Sama Rammohan Reddy entered into an argument with a few media persons, who were reporting the situation at the Gandhi Bhavan, stating that they did not have permission to get into the Telangana Congress headquarters.
